I have always been a rather die-hard Jim Henson fan. I was shown the Muppets and other Jim Henson properties at an early age. To this day I am usually very eager to see what the Jim Henson Company will produce. Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance was stunning and really gave me hope that the company would be stepping back out and giving the world an abundance of imaginative properties again.
Then Netflix halted on season 2 and has still yet to actually cancel the series but more so leave it in a state of limbo. I have rewatched it a good many times now and still, I am impatiently waiting for the conclusion. Luckily the Jim Henson company has been working on another project.
Disney + announced Earth to Ned in 2019 a new series by the Jim Henson company. For those who haven't seen it, the show is about an Alien named Ned who has been sent to Earth to destroy it. However, upon arriving at Earth, Ned has become enchanted by Earth's many forms of entertainment and most important celebrities. Ned then decides instead of blowing up Earth, he would rather host is own talk show featuring interviews with various celebrities.
Ned runs his show with assistance from the crew of his ship. Cornelius, the show’s co-host, tries to keep Ned in check as well as partake in the various fun activities each episode is based around. Beti is the ship's sassy AI that is ready to blow up Earth at the touch of a button or misspoken dialogue. Then there are the Clods. These small alien creatures are the show stealers, between their hysterical sounding noises and gremlin level destructive behavior, it is hard to not want to have one in your own home once you've seen them.
The show typically focuses on a certain topic, such as Star Wars, horror movies, art, etc. The show features two special guests that have a history with the topic featured.
Once each episode is done, it cuts to Ned giving a report to his father, the one who has sent Ned to destroy Earth. While giving the report, Ned attempts to explain why he has yet to destroy Earth and gives tidbits about the topics featured in the show hoping that this will spark something in his father that will keep him from wanting Earth destroyed.
The show’s humor is very funny and reminiscent of Jim Henson's Dinosaurs. It has funny dark undertones but doesn't stray so far that a kid couldn't watch it. I feel that even without the celebrity interviews the show would still be an awesome show. There is a small part of me that would like to see that happen one day.
Now that this is out of the way I have been thinking lately. Since Stich's Great Escape has been closed. A great replacement for this show would be an Earth to Ned based attraction/show. Ned would be a perfect fit in Tomorrowland, along-side Sonny Eclipse over at Cosmic Rays. There are a ton of different ways to use this IP.

They could set it up like going to a live performance of a show. Ned, Cornelius, and the Clods could be audio-animatronics and a screen could be placed next to Ned featuring the couch area. They could then project the image of different guests and have different sets of shows pre-programmed almost like Star Tours giving it the benefit you almost never see the exact same show a need to rewatch multiple times to see it all. It would be fun if the interviewed characters could be other park characters or even other Disney characters giving this a slightly more 4th Wall Breaking silliness.
The show could let out into the merchant of venus and they could transition this into a merch spot for Earth to Ned. I'd easily buy shirts and some stuffed Clods to place around my house. Oh! Better yet a shoulder pet Clod!
An extra bit of pie in the sky for myself would be to include Sonny Eclipse as the stand-in guest musician since in the show Ned points out that he doesn't currently have a band. Sonny Eclipse is one of my all-time favorite Disney Parks original IP characters so for me the more usage of him the better.
While I'm making this all for fun, hopefully, some people will agree with me on this and maybe pass some words around to other like-minded folks. Hopefully, these people will be verbal with this and maybe get Disney to make this a reality. I know for me personally it would be a real dream come true.
