Welcome to WED Fan Blog: a note from the creator

Updated: Aug 8, 2020

My name is Brad, I am a lover of most things Disney, Muppets and I am a Star Wars nerd. I haven't been to Universal Studios, but hope to once we move to Florida.

My love of Disney parks started long ago when I was an only child living in our very tiny first house, sometime between 1986-1989 . I was a small child and my Dad worked a lot to keep food on the table. My parents took me to Disney World twice during this time however, I was too young to fully remember. I do remember certain things.

The excitement I had for the parks was thanks to several Disney Parks specials we had recorded off of our TV on to VHS when Disney Channel had their free trial runs. We had the Osmond Brothers go to Disneyland special and the Anniversary of Disneyland hosted by Tony Danza. Neither were actually about Disney World but to me, I didn't know the difference . I watched these two specials as much as my treasured Saturday morning cartoons.

After my brother, Ben was born in 1992 our Disney trip desire began to escalate. However, we could not afford to go. The series Disney Inside Out joined our Disney specials that we watched so often. Scott Harriett will always be my favorite Disney Inside Out Host. For years we continued to watch our Disney specials and dream that one day we would go again. In 1996 my second brother, Andrew was born.

After this, we began our nearly annual Disney World trips. We started out going to Fort Wilderness almost every year. We stayed in a very tiny pop-up camper. To keep his kids and wife happy my dad engineered a hole into the side of the pop-up and proceeded to rig a window AC unit into the hole. We also had a very tiny TV and VCR so for us kids, there was no difference staying in this small pop-up camper then there would be staying in a hotel.

I love nights at Fort Wilderness and that place will always feel like a second home for me. We always used to stay at Cottontail Curl. This had a pathway that led you right into the pool and the small arcade as well as a very short walk to both the shop at the meadow and the campfire show.

My brothers still always want to stay there even though we no longer have the pop-up and are all way too big to be in such small quarters now. The beach to the Seven Seas Lagoon at Fort Wilderness was where I proposed to my wife during the Hallowishes Firework show. She said yes and further cemented this location on this Earth as the greatest place to be.

Years have gone by and things have changed at the parks. We no longer stay at Fort Wilderness when we go but we do visit it every trip several times. Sometimes if we have enough money my parents and brothers rent one of the cabins while my wife and I typically aim for All-Star Movies or Pop Century though we have a great love for All-Stars Music resort.

Many new memories have been formed. My first ride with my wife was Buzz Light-year Space Ranger Spin. My brothers I now try and take some time to do something just the three of us. I always try to play against my mother at a game of air hockey, though we still miss our red vs blue game that we played before.

We try to find places to sit and watch people having fun being spit on by golden camels or seeing employees casually mist people with spray bottles with my Dad. My dad and I also ride the people mover, sometimes more than once, because we don't ride Space Mountain.

Most of my family, wife included, are thrill junkies. I, however, am the atmosphere kind of person who likes to take it easy. I'll ride any dark ride, but I don't do drops.

I do tend to get annoyed when I lose something I can ride for another thrill ride to open. That being said, I am someone who likes to see additions to the parks and see others happy with the new additions.

Thank you for your time today to read my thoughts. I hope to have you here again sometime and see ya real soon!
