Rise of Resistance Broken Again!

Updated: Aug 21, 2020

*Update Rise of Resistance missing Stormtroopers have been fixed. However, I have not heard if Kylo has been put back in yet*

Last week we put up a post about lightning striking Black Spire Outpost in Galaxy's Edge that put Rise of Resistance out for an entire day. Since the reopening of the ride, I have heard a few malfunctions have hit the attraction.

The first one I heard came while watching a live stream on youtube from "ResortTV1". While in line for the "Mickey & Minnie Runaway Rail Way" the live crew mentioned how the Kylo audio-animatronic near the end of the attraction had gone missing. In his place was a projected scene showing Kylo in his Tie Silencer moving back and forth and attempting to fire on the escaping rebels. This was the first time I have heard of an A Mode and a B Mode for The Rise of Resistance attraction.

I thought that this was a rather neat contingency plan that Disney has in place for when things go wrong for the attraction, and made me wonder if there were more for some of the other scenes throughout the ride. However, as other videos from a few days later have shown this may not be the case.

Videos displaying that the Stormtroopers that typically fire upon the ride vehicle have gone missing despite their laser fire partially working. Much of the immersing effects seem to have hit a bit of a snag for the current most popular ride at Walt Disney World.

No statement from the Disney Company has been posted at the time of writing this, but I imagine this will either be a quick fix or they will say something soon. I believe that it's possible that this is remnants of the negative effect of the powerful lightning strike that hit the area last week.

I believe that Disney will undoubtedly get the attraction up and running in no time, especially the decrease in guests visiting the parks and the ride being a major player in getting Annual Passholders into the parks. In the mean-time, there is still Star Tours and Smuggler's Run fully operational at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Both may not be as revolutionary as the newest ride in Galaxy's Edge, but they are still stellar attractions that deserve love too.
