Sky Liner Experience

In December 2019 my family and I took a trip to Disney World. One of the newest things at the parks was the
gondolas. My family and I were very curious about riding one to Hollywood Studios from the bridge between Pop Century and Art of Animation.
I was very apprehensive about riding the gondola's, especially after seeing the news that people were stuck for hours waiting for emergency services to get them out after a malfunction at one of the stations. One of my top crippling fear of heights. I am someone who actively avoids "thrill rides" for the most part.
To give a good idea of this I have never ridden Splash Mountain or any of the "mountain rides". I don't even ride Pirates of the Caribbean due to the drop at the beginning. I do, however, ride things like Star Tours, Smugglers Run, Flight of Passage, and Soarin'.
I did end up giving it a go and I have to admit it was not what I was expecting. It was smooth and yet very strange at the same time. My fear of heights never really seemed to creep in at all during the ride. It wasn't too fast or too slow. We did have a mild stop but it started up nearly immediately afterward. The only questionable place may have been the turning station, but there was nothing really to it.

The cabins are also very nice and spacious. For someone like me who is claustrophobic, this was nice. It was only my family in the cabin, but we are a family of six. We all had plenty of room to be comfortable.
Because we went in December, the weather was not too hot. The airflow in the gondola was a lot more than I was expecting and it was quite comfortable. If you go in winter I can say that the fact that there is not an AC unit isn't anything to be worried about. I have no idea how it is during the summer, but I imagine it would still be cooler than walking around in the Florida heat for sure.
The Skyliner wasn't anywhere near the high flying terror I was expecting it to be and I highly recommend giving it a shot on your next visit to Disney World. The ride is super smooth and has some incredible views. It also cuts the travel time via bus in half to any of the parks or resorts you can go to.
Those locations are the bridge between Art of Animation and Pop Century, as well as Caribbean Beach Resort, and the new Riviera Resort. The sky liner will only go to Epcot and Hollywood Studios from the main hub location. It is very limited for a mode of transportation but it is still an interesting one.

<--This is my favorite of the designs on the gondolas so I am crossing my fingers I get to ride this one next time!
